IAINU Tuban Students' Community Service Programme in Malaysia Instils Love for the Indonesian Homeland
To strengthen national values amid the influence of globalisation, students from the Nahdlatul Ulama Islamic Institute (IAINU) Tuban, who organised an international community service programme in Malaysia, collaborated with students from Ma'arif Nahdlatul Ulama University (UMNU) Kebumen to hold various activities that emphasised increasing love for the Indonesian homeland. This programme is run as a concrete manifestation of Indonesian students' participation in promoting nationalist values and the spirit of nationalism in the global arena. This activity began with a spirit of cooperation between campuses to enhance cultural diplomacy and build awareness among students as representatives of the nation. Through a number of social, educational, and religious activities, the KKN participants sought to instil a love for Indonesia among Indonesians living abroad, particularly among students at the At Tanzil learning centre and Indonesian students in Malaysia. Programme coordinator Ahmad Hinanda Nuriyanto revealed that this event was not only about serving the community, but also a tangible application of the values of Pancasila and the spirit of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity). We strive to show that wherever we are, we always carry the spirit of red and white. Love for the country is not just words, but must be realised through concrete actions,’ he added. This activity also received strong support from the Special Branch of Nahdlatul Ulama (PCI NU) Malaysia. The cooperation between educational institutions, community organisations and students shows that nationalism is still strongly ingrained in the younger generation of Indonesians, even though they are living abroad. In addition to strengthening ties between students and Indonesian community organisations in Malaysia, this International Collaboration Community Service Programme also serves as a forum for exchanging ideas and cultures between countries. By promoting the noble values of the Indonesian nation, it is hoped that participants can set an example in fighting for unity, justice and humanity in this global era. With the implementation of this International Collaboration Community Service Programme, it is hoped that students will return with valuable experiences, increased nationalism, and a continued love for Indonesia in an increasingly complex world.
